Garden Design Process

A well-designed garden should feel like a natural extension of your home — a place to relax, entertain, and enjoy the outdoors. Our garden design services in Harrogate, North Yorkshire and North Leeds focus on creating beautiful, practical spaces that suit the way you live.

Whether you’re starting with a blank canvas or looking to transform an existing garden, we work closely with you to develop a design that makes the most of your space. From contemporary low-maintenance gardens to lush planting schemes and family-friendly layouts, every garden is thoughtfully planned to look great and work well throughout the year.

We work with homeowners across Harrogate, North Yorkshire and North Leeds to create gardens that feel personal, welcoming, and built to last — spaces you’ll enjoy spending time in for years to come.

Let’s Talk

Your perfect garden will start with a conversation

Discovery Call

After your initial enquiry, we’ll arrange a friendly phone call at a convenient time to talk through the basics of what you’re hoping to achieve with your new garden. We’ll discuss what you currently like (and don’t like) about the space, any ideas or inspiration you have, and your overall budget.

It’s also a chance for us to explain the full design process so you know exactly what to expect as we move forward.

The call usually takes around 20–40 minutes, and afterwards we can arrange a design consultation to take the next step in bringing your garden to life.

Your Garden Design Consultation

This is our first opportunity to explore your aspirations for your garden. During this initial consultation, we’ll talk about how you’d like to use the space — whether that’s dining, cooking, relaxing, entertaining, or something else — as well as the overall look and feel you’d like to create.

It also gives us a chance to walk around the garden and understand the existing environment, so we can see the opportunities the space offers as well as any limitations we need to consider.

These consultations usually take around an hour. Afterwards, we’ll write up a design brief for you to review and amend so we can make sure everything reflects exactly what you’d like from your garden.

Site Survey

Once you’ve reviewed the design brief and are happy with it, the next step is the site survey. This helps us gather all the important details about your garden, including its dimensions, terrain, soil type, and any existing trees or structures.

In many cases, a professional land survey will also be carried out to ensure everything is measured accurately. Whether this is needed will depend on the size and complexity of your garden.
