Naturalistic Planting

The Old School House - Ripon, North Yorkshire

This full garden design project started with a huge garden clearance in the Autumn of 2020, What had once been a well loved garden had been left untouched for years and was very overgrown.

Working closely with our client we eventually decided to keep the exisiting structural planting and to start again with the rest.

Our client chose a new perennial / naturalistic style which aims, through careful planning, to mimic feelings of nature. During the design process we chose a diverse range of plants that offer different colour and form. As the client was based in London and spent the summers in the property we chose planting combinations that have a distinctive summer-nostalgia sense of the Yorkshire countryside, with an emphasis on movement and growth and little spots of hot colour dotted through.
