Our Garden Design Services

  • A lush green garden with a well-maintained lawn, various trees, and colorful flowering plants surrounding a stone wall, adjacent to a house with a stone exterior and windows.

    Garden Design

From the initial ideas through to a complete garden masterplan, we can help you create a garden that works as a whole.

We consider layout, circulation, planting, materials, boundaries, focal points and the relationship between your garden and your home.

  • Colorful flower garden with potted plants and a large historic building in the background, under a blue sky.

    Planting Design

Planting is at the heart of what we do.

We create detailed planting schemes tailored to your garden's soil, light, conditions and style, using plants chosen for colour, texture, structure, seasonal interest and wildlife value.

  • Colorful garden with purple, pink, and green plants and flowers beside a white house with black-framed windows.

    Soft Landscaping

Once your design and planting plan are ready, our experienced team can help bring the planting to life.

Our horticultural knowledge means we understand how planting plans translate into real gardens and how borders develop and mature over time.

    Aftercare

A new garden needs time and care to establish.

We can provide advice and ongoing support to help your plants get the best start and your garden develop as intended.

Garden Designers in Leeds

Every garden is different, and every GardenWild project is individual. We take time to understand your garden, your home and how you want to use your outdoor space before developing a design that is right for you. From established gardens in North Leeds to smaller urban spaces, we consider the character of the property, the existing landscape and the opportunities within the garden to create a thoughtful and cohesive design. Our garden design service can include everything from an initial consultation and concept design through to detailed planting plans and support with bringing the finished garden to life.

Garden design with horticulture at its heart

At GardenWild, we believe that great garden design starts with great plants. Our team has extensive hands-on experience planting and maintaining gardens throughout Yorkshire, alongside professional horticultural and garden design training. This practical knowledge is an important part of the way we design. We consider the conditions of your garden — including soil, light, aspect, drainage and exposure — when developing both the design and planting scheme. The result is a garden that is not only beautiful, but one where the plants have the best possible chance to establish, thrive and develop over time.

We don't see gardens as fixed installations. They are living, evolving spaces.

Designing gardens for Leeds and North Leeds

Leeds is home to an enormous variety of gardens and properties, from established suburban gardens to contemporary homes and smaller urban spaces. We work with the individual character of each site rather than applying a standard garden design style. A garden in Alwoodley may present very different opportunities from a town garden elsewhere in Leeds, and that's exactly what makes each project interesting. We consider the architecture of the property, the surrounding landscape and the way the garden connects with the wider environment. Where appropriate, we also look at how existing trees, mature planting, boundaries and established features can be incorporated into the new design rather than starting again from scratch.

Our Garden Design Process

Consultation

We begin with a conversation about your garden.

We'll talk through what you like about the existing space, what isn't working, how you want to use it and what you'd like to achieve. It's also an opportunity for us to understand your ideas, preferences and priorities.

Garden Design

We develop the ideas into a considered garden design, bringing together the different elements of the space.

This might include areas for sitting and entertaining, paths and circulation, planting areas, lawn, screening, focal points and other garden features. The aim is to create a garden that feels cohesive and natural rather than a collection of separate elements.

Understanding gardens

Before developing a design, we look carefully at the site.

We consider the existing layout, aspect, soil, planting, boundaries and relationship between the garden and your home. Understanding the conditions of a garden is essential to creating a design that will work in practice.

Planting Design

Planting is considered as an integral part of the garden rather than something added at the end.

We develop planting schemes that combine structure, colour, texture and seasonal interest, choosing plants that are appropriate for the conditions of your garden.

Bringing the garden to life

Once the design is agreed, we can provide the information and support needed to turn the plans into a finished garden. Our soft landscaping team can install planting plans carefully and professionally, giving your plants the best possible start.

Planting for year-round interest

A garden should have something to offer throughout the year.

We use a combination of trees, shrubs, perennials, grasses, bulbs and other plants to create layers of interest that change with the seasons. Spring bulbs can provide the first burst of colour. Summer perennials bring energy and movement. Grasses and seedheads can add texture later in the year, while carefully selected trees and shrubs provide structure throughout the winter. We also consider wildlife wherever it is appropriate, creating gardens where plants, insects, birds and people can coexist.

Our planting styles range from naturalistic and wildlife-friendly gardens to cottage, Mediterranean, prairie and more contemporary planting schemes.

Testimonials

  • "I whole heartedly recommend Liz and her team. They have done a great job in my garden and were a real pleasure to work with. Nothing was too much trouble and changes of mind were taken in their stride. Liz and her team are really knowledgeable and I’m already looking at the next project for her.

    Keith

  • Liz sourced and planted many, many plants for my garden, following a detailed design. The plants she sourced are of an exceptional quality and the finished garden is wonderful. Leading up to completing the project Liz's communication was excellent and her after-care has be just as good. She has answered questions about how I care for certain plants and visited the garden to review the health of some of the plants. She quickly diagnosed that they needed more water - she was right!

    Gary

  • Liz and Tom did a grand job choosing the plants for our coastal to cottage themed garden areas. We now have a beautiful mix of grasses, coastal plants and herbs. Already we have bees and butterflies visiting our garden. The planting creates interest through the seasons. They have also replied promptly to any queries we have had. Thank you Liz and Tom
