Contemporary naturalistic garden in Rodley, Leeds
A contemporary garden design combining naturalistic planting, warm materials and beautifully considered spaces.
We were asked to transform the gardens of this bungalow in Rodley, Leeds, creating a series of welcoming spaces with year-round interest and plenty of character.
The back garden combines Yorkstone paving with bespoke Corten steel raised beds, creating a warm, textured setting for a small glass-fronted art studio. Three Liquidambar trees, trained as parasols, provide dappled shade over the patio, adding structure and a sense of enclosure to the space.
At the front, the south-facing garden takes a more naturalistic approach. A generous, wildlife-friendly planting scheme brings together ornamental grasses, perennials and architectural forms to create maximum impact, with layers of colour, texture and movement through the seasons. Three sculptural Corten steel water bowls complete the design, adding a striking focal point and bringing the whole scheme together.
